Welcome
Hopefully you have arrived here because you are interested in helping out with a fundraiser project I'm working on. This website is an attempt to collect all the info for this event in one place, answer any questions you might have, and provide a simple way for you to join the support team. Thanks for your time and consideration.

11/2/2010 - Drumroll, please....
All the final donations are in and the final total of money raised through the Triathlon-a-thon for Korah is...
$5,157.01
I am completely floored by the overwhelming generosity of all who contributed, and I love that penny on the end. That's one more penny than the people of Korah would have otherwise. This was an amazing experience for me personally, to not only have competed in and completed a triathlon, but to have been able to sit here and watch the contributions from you good people come in and blow the lid off any expectations I had. I was hoping to raise $1200. My wife, who has greater faith than me, said "Let's ask God for $5000!" and I thought she was crazy. Look who's the crazy one now.
The total contributions to Ordinary Hero for this project are already over $13,000 which more than halfway to the goal of $25,000 for the purchase of the land, and you can see that you all had a large part in where we are to date.
One last note - Jody was able to return to Korah October 20 - 29 to help support the ongoing ministry and work there. You can read all about it on her blog.
9/12/2020 - Y'all, I did it!
It's hard to believe, but the triathlon is in the books and those books include my name with a finish time of 1:34:05! I was #265 out of 344 guys who finished. Here are a few pictures from the event. It was hard for Jody to get too many photos because I was going so fast most of the time. HAHAHAHA It was a cool, overcast and misty/rainy morning which was great for me but not so much for my cheering squad. I had a blast overall. The swim was a lot of fun, the flat bike course was super fast, but the run nearly killed me.
I'm gonna update the fundraising total soon, but there are still a few donations coming in so I don't have a final total to report yet. Be prepared though to have your socks shocked right off - it is OVER $5,000!!!
9/10/2010 - Last workout done
The training is over. Nothing left to do but pack, drive, check-in and keep from hyperventilating. Nerves are increasing. The fundraising total to date is $3,593.75! Keep 'em coming! With your help we can get to a God-sized $5,000 total before 7:06 am on Sunday monrning when my wave starts! Check it out - I'm in the "Men 35 - 49" wave by about 7 months.
9/4/2010 - Training Update and video warning
I just finished my last long run (6 mi) and long swim (1 mi) before the Triathlon-a-thon. Gonna try to get the last long bike ride (24 mi) before the long weekend is over. I have been in the pool A LOT over the last few months, so it's a good thing I found this video: Things you CAN'T do when you're NOT in a pool.
9/2/2010 - Fundraising Update
We are at $2,898, so the second $1,200 goal has been met! We have also received over $114 in donations from kids, so that goal has been met as well! One week left, so let's make a big push for one more $1,200 goal. Tell your friends!
8/31/2010 - Korah Night II
Jody and I were blessed to be able to join the folks at Project 61 for a night to celebrate and learn more about what is going on at Korah this summer and look ahead to the fall. Some of the details are on the P61 Blog.
8/22/2010 - School starting for 230 kids that won't have to live off of trash this year.
A huge milestone in Korah - all the sponsorship spots are filled and the kids head off to boarding school soon! The dream has become a reality thanks to the efforts and support of so many. If you have sponsored a kid for school - THANK YOU! If you have kids starting school soon, how about trying to get them to catch the vision for helping some kids their age in Africa? Even the small amounts they can give will add up. Will you join me in setting a goal of $100 in total gifts from kids under age 12? If you note it in the comment section, I'll track their gifts separately. There are still many more kids that aren't sponsored because the boarding school is full. That's what the land purchase and well digging will help with - the next place the Project 61 team can send kids to get them out of the trash. Overall, we are $265 away from our second $1,200 goal, so keep the donations coming!
8/15/2010 - We just passed the $2000 mark!
An unbelievable week for Korah. Let's keep it going...less than 1 month left before the race! And my long bike ride today got rained out, so I've got to find an extra hour in the week somewhere.
8/11/2010 - First donations in...
We have started to receive some early donations and am pleased to report that WE HAVE ALREADY EXCEEDED THE $1200 GOAL. In fact, it has been smashed and we're almost 3/4 of the way to meeting the second goal of $2400. I am humbled beyond words and clearly have set my expectations way too low.
8/7/2010 - 5 weeks until the Triathlon-a-thon
The race is on Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Williamsburg, VA, which is only 5 weeks away. Lots of training to do, but more importantly - lots of donating to do! Click on Donate now so you don't miss out.
